We have two more new papers both on the status of bird populations in Taiwan, led by Da-Li Lin at UQ.

One paper “Taiwan’s Breeding Bird Survey reveals very few declining species” has been published in Ecological Indicators, showing that there have been very few declining breeding bird species between 2011 and 2019 in Taiwan (which is great news!).

The other paper “Remote and local threats are associated with population change in Taiwanese migratory waterbirds”, published in Global Ecology and Conservaiton, assessed the pupulation trends of migratory waterbird species in Taiwan, and showed the importance of both remote (habitat loss in the Yellow Sea) and local threats (rich paddy loss) in driving their population changes.
