Delighted to see this new publication nicely led by Marina Corella Tor!

In this paper we examined international agreements aimed at conserving migratory bird species and found:
• 49 agreements across 187 countries
• Covering 1,677 species (86% of all migratory birds)

But major gaps remain:
• Fewer agreements are found at lower latitudes
• Middle-income countries with less effective governance have fewer agreements
• Only 28% of species have full range coverage; 14% have none

With large geographic gaps, expanding the global network of agreements is critical for the effective conservation of migratory bird species.

This is the first publication from Marina’s PhD thesis – big congratulations Marina!
